last month at the kingston house

this is it, our last month in our first place (we survived!). starting july 31st we will be back at the parents' for just a month (lord help me), then it's time to hit the road.

here are some things i'll miss about living here:
being able to choose which of the 3 neighborhoods/cities i want to walk sadie in that day
the beautiful, tree-lined streets of huntington woods and imagining myself living in each perfect house i see
the sliding back door and huge patio
lots of natural light
the neighbors across the street
being a quick drive to detroit, royal oak, ferndale (where i wanted to be for so long!)
the cheap rent
the kitchen backsplash
the built-in bookshelf on the upstairs landing
being within walkable distance to downtown berkley
the huge bungalow bedroom upstairs
sadie frolicking in her own, big backyard
my attempt at lighting up said backyard with a few weak solar lights that looked nice anyway
our smoke bush
deltron zero, the neighborhood cat

and a few i won't miss:
the musty, old creepy basement
the dark blue bedroom carpet
the lack of a screen door
the side door that's a pain to open and is barely useful
the single-car, wonky driveway
the CARPETED PORCH
the stained(?) ceilings
the neighbors on either side
the broken dishwasher that we only just started using yesterday
having no gate
my long commute
the front door that opens the wrong way
