moving in together

Yep, you read that right. We are finally M O V I N G. In. With each other.

I was getting so, so weary with the housing search. But I managed to keep checking Craigslist daily, filtering, scrolling, considering, deciding against, feeling hopeless. Then a cute bungalow showed up in just the right area, along with another listing for an upper flat down the street. We looked at both the same day, keeping our expectations low. Luckily the landlords got to meet us both (instead of just me again) and saw us as the power couple that we are ;-) Just kidding. But Dillon is pretty charming and helps keep the conversation going so they get to know us as real humans! We applied to both, but found out we got accepted for the house (our first choice!) before I heard back from the owner of the flat. It was a sunny Sunday morning and Dillon and I were walking Sadie around the block when I got the call from the landlord and chatted about the details. We met on Monday evening to sign the lease and that brings us to where we are now - just waiting to move in!

Of course, before we sent in our application we had started planning a little weekend trip because we needed one, BAD. I need to use up my vacation days before the end of November and Dillon's time off was approved for the same weekend we're supposed to move in! He meant to keep it a secret for as long as possible, but accidentally spilled the beans that we're going to NYC! It's a lot to do at once, but it's working out okay thanks to the landlord. We'll be starting to move our stuff in this weekend so we'll be ready to stay our first night when we get back from our trip Sunday night. I'm really excited to go since I've never been! I'm just not very excited about driving, since we basically did that long distance drive back in December. I still have to schedule some car repairs before we go. Like I said, it's a lot.

So, we've been a couple for 6 1/2 years and we're finally, officially, getting a place together that's just mine and his. It's easy to be excited because we both are beyond ready, but we should remember that it is "taking the next step". There will be a few adjustments and I'm mentally preparing for them! Although I have to admit that planning the decorating and personal touches is taking up the most headspace right now :) That's why I'm trying to get used to ~blogging~... I want to share the who process and get making again. See you when we get back from NY!
